Hi, I’m Jess (she/her)
My name is Jessica Arriaga, MA, Associate Licensed Mental Health Counselor and I am so deeply glad you found my page.
As your therapist, I place you at the center. Your goals, your needs, and your story create the heart of our work together. I believe you are the expert on you and I am walking by your side as a gentle support as you reclaim your power to heal. I have worked in many diverse spaces in my life, from social justice communities, to healthcare, to our schools. This history informs my work as your therapist. I am a feminist therapist, which means I aim to frame your experiences through the lenses of your different and combined identities. I encourage my clients to be curious about their beliefs and stories, to lean into self-compassion, and to live into their values whenever possible.
What my clients find special about my approach is my relatability, my authenticity, and my ability to incorporate humor, warmth and learning into our sessions. I vow to always embrace your humanness and create a safe place for you to explore, change your mind, and evolve into the person you hope to be.
Who I am as a a therapist…
My approach to therapy is one that empowers you with tools to cope and conceptualize your life outside of our time together. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. What this means is, together we will identify big themes of your story, arm you with tools and skills that work for you, and strive to understand what is important to you in order to create a meaningful life for you personally. Therapy with me combines the grounding and relational benefits of talk therapy with concrete evidence-based tools and skills. Never clinical, always relational.
Using creative and sometimes adventurous exercises, therapy will be interesting, authentic and tailored uniquely for you and your goals.
I believe each of us has the innate ability to heal and grow, I hope to walk with you as you discover this power within yourself.
